Actually, the current Mokou is rather happy. She just doesn't appreciate being killed, particularly over and over (which is what occurred in IN's extra; she died after every single spell card capture).

Mokou is actually at a stage where she wants to protect people, and be acknowledged by them. She seems aloof and distant because she still doesn't want to make relations.

Well, according to Cage in Lunatic Runagate, at least.

Furthermore, I conceal my powerlevel with such mastery, that everyone assumes I'm just a chill stoner. I also work out and keep my fitness level up, which distances me from the Urkel-looking niggas who are usually into these things.
