Most of the southern army had no reason to fight the north. They got duped because Southern plantation owners and their friends needed people willing to die for them. All because they couldn't imagine a world in which they had to treat their workers as equal. It couldn't be about State's rights when the South made more efforts to make slavery legal nation wide than the North ever made to do the reverse. It was pure and simple them clinging to their ability to be rich without doing jack fucking shit and they took hundreds of thousands of people on a miserable ride for it.
