First and foremost. Assemble a team of five destroyers and one light cruiser. Craft Anti-Submarine equipment and use it to conquer Event Map 1 (E-1). Spam it and defeat the boss for goodies. Make sure to have one scout plane on the light cruiser.

On non-event time? Spam 1-3. Acquire your 3rd fleet (Collect all 3 Sendai). Rush to area 3-2. Acquire your 4th fleet (Collect all four Kongou). Expeditions can stop at 21. Push further and collect 4 different submarines if you want Germans. Spam 2, 3, 5, and 6 for your daily resource grind. If you only touch the game once a day, look into 5~12 hour expeditions and do those.

As a newbie, do all your PVPs. They refresh twice a day, the hour depends on your timezone. Even if you cannot win, and especially if your opponent is going to kick your ass. Just make sure to have no planes equipped if you suicide. There's lots of EXP to be had.
