Nobody expects hard-drive failure, least of all chronic laptop users. Actual full computer users have all kinds of options such as mirroring, folder-by-folder backup and/or "smart" hard-drive-death-prediction shit, but even there you have to know about this shit, it isn't already set up for you when you buy a pc.
