OP, you misunderstand the purpose of SAGE. It is provided so that OTHER WORTHWHILE THREADS are not bumped DOWNWARDS due to a new post being made in this thread. There is no need to shove other threads downward each time a post is made (especially if the post is not especially important). In general, proper use of sage shows respect for other threads.

Another benefit of sage is that other threads may live longer because users do not feel obligated to bump them due to being forced down by many nonsense threads being bumped to page 1.
