If it was "just" a tutorial it would be a dialogue prompt and not one of the few cutscenes in the game where a notably important character recognized for aiding youkai, often from the shadows, aids Seija (a youkai) from the shadows in order to bring about youkai strength and pride.

You would know this if you played Touhou, ZUN does this a lot. Like, a whole lot really it's almost the point, and ISC is full of gameplay/story integration. I suggest you play it, because it's also really fun
