The Moriya bunch showing up is directly responsible for restoring some degree of relations between the surface and the underground,, as well as bringing in some relatively modern conveniences like electricity. The Buddhists, who the Moriya are also somewhat responsible for appearing, have given some youkai who were in danger of disappearing a new means of maintaining their existence, like with Kyouko. Raiko did something similar for her fellow tsukumogami, which was only possible by bringing in something from the outside.
