Politically it's a mess, because half of it is not to be taken seriously, half of it is Ryukishi mentally fucking with people, and the later half of it is Ryukishi being hopelessly leftist because he has a past as a social worker. So in all honesty, you can't really put a label on it.

As an example, Ciconia is not what I'd call woke, even though it has a weird demisoul maybe trans as a main character, because half of it is ironic, half of it is trolling readers, and half of it is leftism. I am well aware that makes three halves, but we're talking woke politics, they aren't very regarding on math.

This is present everywhere in the VN if you look for it. Some of it is disgustingly nationalistic, some of it is antisemitic, some of it appears woke as fuck, some of it is rather harsh critic of woke culture. It's basically whatever, and politics shouldn't be the point of a WtC, anyways. Which unironically makes it a pretty good SF setting, as the bests are exploring weird societies just because.

I would do with a little bit less of wokeism for my taste, as it is not critiqued with the same virulence other societal viruses are in the VN, but I'd grade Ciconia a "neutral" grade on the what the fuck the politic was. Which is certainly alright in my book.
