Picture this: instead of Heart Gold/Soul Silver, which came out relatively recently, a group on /v/ just discovered and right now only discusses, let's say for the sake of example, Crysis. I've heard it's a really good game alright, but would you like that? "Hasn't it been discussed to death already? So, why are they making 5 threads a day about it, it isn't even flavor of the month."
