Because it was really hitting me. I was going to ask Yamame Kurodani to marry me. Her sister had made the ring. My sister had put the idea in my head. Multiple people seemed to be pushing me in that direction. I knew it was the right choice. I loved Yamame and I didn't want to leave her. I wanted her to know how much she meant to me. I wanted her to have something that really symbolized how much I loved her. And some day, I wanted to have chi-

"Uh...Are you okay?" Ki asked me quietly. I blinked, finding that my vision had blurred. "It's just - Um, you're crying." I took in a shaky breath and raised a hand to my eyes, then blinking in surprise when my fingers came away wet. I snapped the box shut and breathed in deeply, squeezing my eyes shut for a moment. Fine, I told Ki. Just fine. The ring was beautiful, I told her. She'd really outdone herself, and I slid it into my coat's pocket until I could find the best time to finally ask the question. Suddenly, I got an idea, so I turned back to Kisami and watched her for a moment. "Uh...What, um - Are you sure you're oka-" And then, I dived at her and forced her to experience what she inflicted regularly to both Yamame and I. Lots of hugs and kisses. "Wh-What are you - Wah! Stop - Stop! It's embarrassing - I'm supposed to do this to you, not the other way around!" She cried, trying to push me off and failing miserably. "Yams!" She wailed, like that was supposed to help. "Your stupid boyfriend's stealing my gimmick!"

"Oh, for - What's wrong, Ki?" I heard Yamame's voice and looked over to her bedroom. There she stood, wearing a newly buttoned up shirt that fit nicely and a pair of baggy shorts that looked like the sort of thing she'd worn in the past, though a little older and more well-worn. If it wasn't for how healthy her skin looked, the radiance of her hair, the fresh glow in her eyes, and the way her new shirt hugged her hips just right, I'd probably not know that anything had happened at all. "What are you...Oh." She said, looking between Kisami and I. Kisami was trying to escape, but my arms were wrapped around her waist and I wasn't letting her. Yamame stepped closer, and Kisami stopped struggling for a second to hopefully ask if Yamame was going to save her. "How dare you?" Yamame told me, rather frostily. I opened my mouth to tell her that it was a joke and I hadn't meant anything by it, along with fifteen other apologies, when a wide grin suddenly appeared on her face. "How dare you start this without me!?" She continued, jumping forward and wrapping her arms around Kisami's shoulders. "Ki~! You're so cute~!" She cried, taking her chance to shower the taller girl in kisses and hugs. "I need to thank you properly for giving me all of these clothes!"

"You can't-!" Kisami cried, struggling violently, but to no avail. "No, this is so embarrass- Ah! Let me go, my coat's gonna fall, and - Yams, don't play with my hair like that - Ouch!" She tried calling for help, but clearly none was coming. "I J-Just, trying to - You're squeezing too tight!" Clearly, neither of us felt inclined to take her opinion on the whole thing into account, so we just continued until we'd repaid her for all the times she'd done it to us. "Oh, see if I ever hug you two again!" Kisami wailed. Somehow, I expected that this wouldn't discourage her much.

And while Yamame and I continued to embarrass Kisami for all we were worth, I wondered just how I was going to ask her to marry me.
