Strictly speaking, Kiritsugu and Kirei had a draw in their one-on-one fight. However, that was due to the power of Avalon allowing Kiritsugu to go past his limits. Furthermore, however, the situation was in Kirei's advantage as Kiritsugu is not a direct face-to-face combatant, he is a tactical assassin.

At any rate, Kiritsugu, true to the way of an assassin, successfully won the battle when a distraction arose.

Although there is no convictive evidence, looking at the information given, it is a very believable story.

Not as much repetitive exposition and internal monologues.

Don't get me wrong, I liked all that, but it's easier to get into stories that aren't drowning in that kind of stuff. Fate/Zero is kind of to the point, while it feels like Fate/Stay Night is trying to bloat itself.
