Safe enough. Two of the girls in our group were followed a few times at night though. So...not as safe for women?

If you are worried about Yakuza, or violence groups, don't worry too much. Yakuza are chill as hell with foreigners. I was followed once and had a group of guys laughing about how they could push me on a nearby train track, and no one would care because Americans die all the time. Then they veered off towards an arcade...Good times. My take away from that is that they are big on talk, small on action.
