Social interaction, specially with clerks, is easier than you think. Just be polite, say thank you when you receive your product, and express in a clear manner what you want and that you understand the technical aspects of it.
I'm not a charming guy, but for some reason all salespersons remember me and offer me discounts later on. Just the idea of a polite, non moronic customer is such a refreshing part of their job that before you know it you'll be past the crippling anxiety.

Don't overthink it, and go for it.

It's easier to feel despair about one's current situation, I posted this to show there's an alternative. Plus I'm in a bad place at the moment, so the morning boost helps me as well.
