Rika's issue is that the whole "she was traumatized by the loops and wants to leave Hinamizawa" was never a thing in the original series.

Ryukishi's interviews and how he alluded to Rika in the Beatrice's Birthday event for Mei (with Mion referencing Rika talking about St.Lucia, and this takes place still in 83) make it clear that he's acting like Rika was always like this, rather than feeling like it's something that needs to be explained to the readers. It doesn't help he pushes her to that in a very superficial way.

While Mei's usual writer has Rika starting to think about St.Lucia due to the idea of growing contacts/power there so she won't be helpless in the future, Ryukishi references her wanting to get there due to liking... Western architecture and being tired of how Japanese Hinamizawa is... It's such a superficial reason to become the driving force of her character.

Meguri has Tomato attempting to transition her from Matsuribayashi Rika to Gou Rika with the whole "she was actually empty due to the loops, without realizing it, and Hanyuu pushed her to find herself", but it's still something done very quickly since it's not the point of the story.

It's just people associating how they dislike Umineko's Answer Arcs with BT's death. Although they often forget Episode 5 was written with him still alive. We also really don't know if he had any direct influence in Umineko, unlike Higurashi.

I do think Ryukishi needs some kind of editor to shut down ideas that would sound obviously bad to anyone else though. It really feels like modern Ryukishi lacks someone to be there and tell when his ideas are obviously dumb.
