Some anon in a previous thread said "people used to say they love Aqua for not giving up and she gave up".
I guess that explains why I've been giving less and less of a fuck about her lately and why I've been looking up to Pekora a lot more since her breakdown earlier this year.
You have to understand, it's not that I suddenly stopped loving Aqua, it's just that... well, I watch these girls to see them achieve their dreams no matter what. I've actually cried watching Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls because at the end of the day, Uzuki powered through her depression and achieved her idol dream. This is the reason why I love idol shows and why I watch Hololive.
So of course, when I see that Aqua gave up just like I gave up, and when I see she didn't get over it quite yet like I didn't get over it, it's painful to me. It's like looking at a reflection of yourself, and no one likes to be reminded of their faults. It's kind of crazy to me, I mean, Aqua is still as cute, retarded and funny as always. It's not like she changed that much. As other anons have pointed out in the past, she's always had her whole singing and idol thing going for her.
However, she did give up. An idol that's given up is just a hollow husk. At least that's how I feel.
And from what I've seen so far, Pekora isn't a quitter. She hasn't given up yet. This really appeals to me, and I think I'm starting to see Pekora's dream as mine, as if in some blind craze our vision overlapped. Maybe it's unhealthy to have such high expectations from a japanese anime girl, but that's my coping mechanism for being a loser irl, I suppose.
I really wish Aqua would come back. As for me now, I'll watch warmly over Pekora.
