I think Rinnosuke an alright guy just being who he is. He looks a bit too deeply into things, but I think that's what makes him funny, as a person looking in from the outside world. I wish there were more doujinshi of him just being him, messing with things in his shop rather than the usual role of "the only guy in Gensokyo".
