I think I've figured out Gou. Satoko's best friend and pseudo-sister that she grew up spending every day with is NOT Rika! Not anymore, the current Rika is a 100 year old witch who stole the body of an 11 year old girl and pretended to be her. What's happening in St. Lucia is obvious, Satoko hates it, it's a shitty boring place where all you can do is kill yourself studying and have pretensions philosophy discussions with stuck up snobs. But Rika seems to love it and fits in perfectly, even though that doesn't make any sense. Satoko's known her her entire life, and she's never once acted like this before.
Satoko's going to figure out or learn, possibly from Rika herself, that the "Miiiii, Nipah!" thing was all an act, along with everything else. That this is the "real" Rika and the old one never existed. That's a total mindbreak moment for Satoko on par with thinking Satoshi just abandoned her on her birthday even though everything she thought she knew about him said he'd never abandon her. It's happening AGAIN! AGAIN, someone she trusted and knew her entire life suddenly starts acting totally different and abandons her with no explanation.
Then she'll learn about the loops, how the loopers and the originals aren't the same person, they're REPLACING the REAL people! This haughty, boring, Rika who ditched her is an imposter that KILLED her best friend and stole her body! So she's going to go back, get the sword, kill the looper Rika to save the real one, and then possibly kill herself as well to free her original self.
