I just went to my first con last weekend. Anime Boston.

There I discovered that it is okay to be the weeaboo.

So what do you guys appreciate about Japanese culture asides from anime and manga and other modern pop stuff that is destroying traditional Japanese culture? You guys like the ancient pottery and stuff?

I hate weeaboos. I don't conisder myself a weeaboo, I'm actually Japanese for real, well almost. I will be when I live in Japan though. Right now I'm studying japanese, japanese history and I'm following Bushido, the way of the warrior. This is why I hate weeaboos that know 5 words in japanese and use them all the time, kawaai baka DESU NE MOTHERFUCKER. I'm actually trying to become Japanese for real unlike all these faker wees. Sort of curious, this should hopefully be the best board for a question like this.

I want to learn Japanese as a second language. I'm not big into the culture or anything, but figuring how Tokyo is the biggest fucking city in the world; I think it'd be wise. Plus I'm interested in something that isn't Western Civilization.

So, how do I go about this?
Should I learn to written language first, or speaking?
I already have Rosetta Stone Japanese, not really digging the lessons though.
