I've been thinking about the driving thoughts behind the appreciation of the abuse of Satori.

It's her power. She can invade your inner thoughts and privacy at will. You can tell yourself, "Oh, I could talk to another Touhou, maybe use my awesome dodging skills when they're firin' their laser, or maybe just ignore them." No can do, with Satori. When you see her, your thoughts are hers. No saving throw or anything.

It's the same way women with an irrational fear of rape feel about men, and for largely the same reason. Indeed, what Satori's doing to you is violation of your most private parts. It may as well be called rape.

In order to bring peace and balance to your mind, you imagine what you can do to Satori in retaliation. Often, it comes down to abuse because, face it, she's tiny and fragile. The Drunk-Satori pics are a good example of this. "Not so great now, are you? Who's humiliated and not in control of herself now, BITCH?"

tl;dr the people who like abusing Satori have the same personality markers as those ugly women who are convinced every man is out to rape them.
