Well... I wanted to test it but just as I was about to do so, I somehow completed E-5. I also had this superstition that somehow worked most of the time where I'd get much better luck if I didn't look at the screen during the battle (yes, I know it's extremely stupid but it somehow really helped).

All I can say is, I stacked Ryuusei Kais instead of vice guns on my CVs and by the end of day battle the boss was at half health with both princesses heavily damaged and all floating fortresses killed.
