I live in Italy and as long you know your surroundings you can easily find cheap expressos (0,70~1€) or cappuccinos (1~1,20€) that actually use good machines and ingredients (that's kinda why Starbucks won't try taking over any time soon aside maybe a bunch of big cities full of students obsessed with England).

Either way just buy a damn moka and make the coffee yourself, it's way cheaper.
