This. Umineko has dozens of masterfully written battle scenes and every single one has a thematic purpose and deeper meaning to it. You don't just experience the fight, you experience the clash of principles and rules themselves. When Beatrice is completely annihilated by Virgilia in Banquet and just nullifies any damage she had taken through a magic loophole, that's not just extremely kino. It also serves as foreshadowing that no matter the power level, no matter the battle techniques and flashy powers, once the result is set in Umineko there is nothing that can overturn that decision.

>Bern vs Will
>cringe
I'll have to stop you right ther, there's absolutely nothing cringe about Willard's battle with Berncatsel.
Despite being at a disadvantage, despite having nothing to do with the conflict, Willard does not give in. To protect Lion, a boy he has just met hours prior, he throws his own life on the line in a hopeless all out war against Bern's hordes of merciless cats and stands firm until the end. Even after losing an arm, he still uses his remaining limbs to protect Lion.
Being weak is not a sin, and Willard is by no means weak. But facing off against a superior opponent to reaffirm your beliefs is kino incarnate.
