It's bound to happen. Artists and drawfags are literally retarded and lazy. The worst thing I've personally had to deal with was a long wait time.
Some good practices are asking for a sketch before they get too involved with it. This allows for changes to be made early and easily since they have a tendency to butcher your words in your commission prompt. Ask for updates, especially if it's a more involved project. Don't be afraid to have them correct their fuck-ups, and trust me; they will fuck it up along the way. If they don't do WIPs, get the fuck out of Dodge. Attempt to be polite even though you know you're dealing with a retard.
