Looking away towards the far wall, Mima clears her throat before speaking in an even more professional tone. “Well I… I am not the most up-to-date with the modern powers of Gensokyo. Could those with more experience give their impression about this force?”

Well, Marisa certainly knows a lot about the SDM, she’d sto-borrowed indefinitely from them for quite a long time. “The Scarlet Devil Mansion is definitely the scariest of them ze. They have five powerful figures: There’s a maid who can freeze time and is really good with a knife, a youkai magician who’s… probably weaker than me and Alice after all that training, a Chinese martial artist who has qi and stuff, and two vampire sisters. One of the vampires has the ability to manipulate fate and the other has very strong destruction powers. I wouldn’t want to face either in a fight ze.”

Alice shoots Marisa a look before adding, “She has beaten both in spell card duels before. To add to that, it’s strange that they are getting involved. The SDM is not normally an ally of Yukari’s and it’s been uninvolved up until now. Them joining now is strange.”

Yuuka concurs, “There’s nothing for them to gain here. All this will do is make them enemies, myself included, and put them in danger. Perhaps Yukari is lording something over their head? Still, as prideful as those vampires are, I find that unlikely.”

Mima sighs, “Perhaps there is some secret to their involvement, but I wouldn’t hold my breath about finding it. As it stands, the vampires are the easiest targets to prepare against. Silver weapons, wooden stakes, and sunlight. We’ll need to make something to harness the sun against them in Makai. If we can disrupt her magic, the magician should easily be crushed by a physical fighter. Youkai magicians are fairly weak in that regard. The maid… is she unquestionably devoted type?”

After seeing quite a few nods, Mima continues. “That makes things easy, I’ve fought her type before. Repeatedly target her master and she’ll be clambering to take hits for her. The martial artist… rain curses on her I suppose.”

As Mima continues, one of Alice’s dolls raises its hand. Unfortunately, Mima doesn’t seem to notice as she asks, “The witch, does anyone know who that could be in reference to?”

Marisa, Alice, and Kosuzu share a look. There’s a long pause before Kosuzu finally says, “She’s… she’s pure evil. Her name is Seiga Kaku and she… she has a jianshi and she uses fetuses to fuel her spell cards.”

There’s another pause. Mima looks up Shinki who is staring back at Sariel. The first one to speak is Aunn, who sums up the room’s thoughts succinctly, “Wha! WHAT?!?! Why… why didn’t anyone tell me? I always knew that she was weird and Reimu said to stay away from her, but…”

Mima takes a deep breath (which is strange since she shouldn’t breathe), before stating, “I should have seen this coming. The influence and power of the human Gods of Gensokyo have clearly faded to almost nothing. This in turn has allowed Youkai and their affiliates to embrace some of their darker tendencies without repercussions, as the only powers to hold them to account are Youkai or Youkai-affliated the only real rules are to not annoy the existing powers that be. Still, how could you have let this happen.”

That doll from before seems to grow more agitated. She’s jumping up and down, in a bid for attention, but she gets very little as Yuuka begins to talk. “It is becoming abundantly clear that I have been neglectful to Gensokyo. I have gazed too long inwardly at my garden and neglected the crimes happening beyond it.”

Shinki nods, “Something to that effect. It simply became more pleasant to look at Makai and ignore the outside world, but now it seems we must take a more active role in guiding this land.”

Aunn seems to still be hung up on the matter, “W-Where does she even get them? Does she take them from the villagers or does Yukari take them from the outside?”

Shinki shrugs, “They’re easy enough to grow if you’re knowledgeable in alchemy, especially if you consider them disposable.”

There is another silence before Mima says, “Anyway, we are unbinding that one, sealing her magic, and then we are killing her. I presume we are all in agreement regarding that?”

The nods came readily.
