A good cheap pair of headphones that can show you the difference are the Sony Digital MDR-V6 studio monitor headphones. They are about $79 at Amazon.com. MDR-V6 is not MDR-V600. I use MDR-V6 (and others).

Studio monitor type headphones are for those whose hearing response is fairly complete and even up to the high frequency rolloff point. The response rate of the sony headphones is fairly even thru the midrange and lower end of the high range. For americans high school and college graduates with reading comprehension problems, response rate is not frequency response. Studio monitor headphones are required to have even frequency response and volume delivery with low-frequency response not absolutely required. Frequency response is not response rate is not equal volume delivery is not even frequency rolloff.

Otherwise, headphones that either or both have better response rates or color the music for certain age-related responses are better (and more expensive).
