To be honest, is there really nothing that special to team8 aside from AkiP sponsored yuiyui? she's by far one of the only few eito members (seriously) to have gained prominence in mainstream JP idoldom. The ones who used to have a sizeable following and HAD potential (pakoyama, gyoten(?), okabe, possibly even hamachan and serika, etc) are stagnating. The only eitos rn i see being commonly RT'd on twitter are Miu, Nagi & momoka (or even Hiichan). Well, those were kinda lucky as one had kpoop experience, the other loves snow, and the last did some gravure & is the oldest eito (but also talented & mature too, to boot).

The rest of the eitos are relatively unknown and have a very low following, similar (or even lower) to STU idols.

I'm kinda surprised that Toyota still hasn't cut off funding or their sponsorship to the group but however their involvement in it is very moot compared to the time when most eitos are still lolis.

But that leads me to asking the question: what made Team8 to remain afloat? Was it yuiyui? Some other member? The whole group itself? Or its just the management? Not trying to be an idiot here answering my own question but based on my prior knowledge, there's a high possibility it might be yuiyui since she was already famous due to her insidious imouto personality and stereotypical idol looks in 2016-17 even before pd48 came and the decision to include eitos in the mainline AKB48 group was made. Due to her clout and starpower, she in essence acted as an de facto "ambassador" to the group. And since then she has often performed center very often in live performances with the eitos, so that too undeniably makes her defacto captain too.
