She is seen with it off at least twice in the manga, and once in Reimu's ending as the previous anon said. The only part of her that nobody is sure can come off or not is her third eye.

Actually, most characters who have backstories actually have it almost 100% taken from ancient Japanese mythology, like Seiga for example, not just the whole character reference that is each character.

We do, if you read the manual, you'd know that after she ''awoke from a long sleep'', she found out that Chireiden had appeared where the old hell was and she was taken in by Satori along with Orin, whom she was friends with, and every other random animal youkai in the surroundings. As for the power, she stated it herself, she wanted the Old Hell to return so she was planning to settle in the surface by burning everything and everyone, however she didn't want to do this right away, according to Orin, she started experimenting and slowly became more and more insane and powerhungry until SA happened.

Now OP, I do not see what point there is to attempt to convince people that liking a certain character is shallow, is it because it upsets you how others see her? Because that's where ''everyone else does hate posts why can't I do it'' comes from, some people dislike when fans try to mix in fanon with canon or just confuse them, this happens quite often in Keine threads, but nowhere does it go as far as ''making threads for the purpose of lowering a character's status''.

I know that, but the fact that it's a control rod doesn't mean it can't fit the definition of ''cannon'', since it focuses energy and releases it as a result.

In a sense, all of the magical/high-tech laser cannons in fiction are control rods, since they manipulate and control the energy within, be it with ammunition cells or a source of energy.

I'd say that a self-contained minature star used as a projectile may actually MORE damage than a single tactical fissionable nuclear weapon. A tac-nuke takes down a single tower block. A star would probably plow through an entire row of blocks before stopping.
