It's the internet and it's (present year) 4chan, it's going to be full of retards. Fags with an axe to grind will take any reason to start shit and exaggerate for the sake of farming (you)s. The source is either taken out of context, made up, or hearsay from a 10 year game of telephone. Unless you're posting links it might as well be white noise, and even then they'll leap to conclusions to validate their argument: "ZUN did a DMCA so he must've had a hate boner for gaijins and threw a shitfit, fuck that hack."

The art of taking things easy and leaving arguments not worth the energy has been largely forgotten. This thread is a good example: contradicting accounts of what happened over who did what, people arguing over each other, straying further off topic, and the relevance of it to the OP can be counted in question marks. Sage your arguments and shitposting and let it fall off the board.

I've been here for about 11 years or so now, and wow, I only skimmed the video listening to 5 seconds for every couple minutes or so, but this guy sounds like an absolute faggot. Is this the kind of riff raff the kids are posting on Youtube these days?

I've never felt like anyone is against me at all, even back when I wasn't as good at moon I never felt like anyone treated me any worse than an ESL kid would be treated in the US.

Honestly, I think language skill is the deciding factor for whether or not people treat you like a subhuman, in the US or in Japan. I remember some foreign exchange students in school in the US who could only speak broken English, and all anyone ever talked to them about was how they were foreign or what their country was like, etc. Same shit.

After living here just a few years my Japanese started sounding pretty natural and past that point I stopped feeling like I was getting treated different at all. I mean, when I first meet someone, they'll be like oh he's white maybe he doesn't speak Japanese so good, but after I talk to them for a minute or two they forget about it. Often people who I've known for some time will be surprised when I say how I grew up the US in a white family, because they thought I was half Japanese, or that I was raised here, just because there are so damn few people who speak native sounding Japanese as a second language.

If the guy in the video has been here for what, 16 years? Then his JP should be native level. If it isn't, either he's mentally handicapped, or he's not really that interested in learning; either way he shouldn't expect people not to treat him like a tourist. And if he's speaking native level Japanese and people still treat him like a tourist, maybe he's just such a boring loser with nothing interesting to say that being white is the only thing notable about him and the only topic that comes up in conversation.

tl;dr Why are you still here /jp/? We're all waiting for your in Japan.
