oh, so Shinki is coming to the party? That I didn't know. Will be adding it to the pastebin~
also
>all that talk about Yukari having countermeasures for the sword
>they know this is one of Yukari's most ambitious projects
>still fucks with it
is she… Is Shinki okay? That just seems like the making of a pun where the punchline is that the bomb explodes in the person's face
Also, what's the sword tied to dragons? It escapes this smooth brain of mine…
thanks for the chapter!

Today’s training was, as usual, tiring and extensive. Though Mima and Marisa both were lenient on her due to the fact that she had village patrols and other jobs come up often, it didn’t mean that they went easy on her when it came to practical lessons. She’d figure a pregnant woman like Marisa would take it easier but it was just like her to make sure Hana was learning properly.

Despite her misgivings about Mima and her nature she’d proven to be an encyclopedia of knowledge and wisdom. Although she’d not admit it to Marisa, Mima was a much better teacher than her. Whereas Marisa’s lessons were easy to understand and she could teach the basics to Hana well it was much less structured than Mima’s lessons were. That isn’t even to mention the efficiency of the spells taught, Mima’s magical circles and other spells were much easier on Hana’s body.

As she walked the streets of the village on her patrol, letting the bright and unclouded afternoon sun wash over her and reinvigorate her body she felt good. Soon enough she’d be strong, strong enough to break down that abomination… That abomination that exploited her father and the proprietress that operated it…

It wasn’t until Hana bumped into a passerbyer that she even realized she’d been staring in the direction of that tall building that could be spotted from most anywhere in the village. After a quick apology that was easily accepted Hana continued on her way, trying to pointedly ignore the building.

Ever since that night she’d avoided coming back, she just couldn’t get the guilt out of her system when she wasn’t focusing on training or other things. How she let herself get caught, used, and then… how she abused her father’s trust in telling him those things she was once sure she would take with her to her grave.

That night went on for a long while after, Hana could only focus on anything else lest the vivid memories of indulging in Yukari’s and her father’s flesh come back in full force. The taste, the smell, the heat… it was all intoxicating as it was filthy and it stained her soul terribly. It took quite a bit of scrubbing in a hot bath after that to get rid of the sounds of her moans and feeling of her father spending himself time and time again inside of her.

She shivered involuntarily, and it certainly wasn’t from the chill in the air.

Still, a singular and circling thought had been brewing inside of her this whole time. One that she suspected she never got a true answer too: Why? She remembered well the cryptic warnings she once got from Yukari, those taunts about how breaking a promise to her would exact vengeance. About how she couldn’t protect her father from youkai who wanted to harm him. Even how she’d have to struggle with herself and the darkness in her blood.

They were warnings, they were answers, but they didn’t feel right. If Yukari wanted to punish her father, punish her; then why go through all this? Why break the rules of the village she so carefully guarded for decades, if not longer? It couldn’t be revenge nor retribution. After all, one thing Mima and that strangely affectionate flower youkai like doing was telling her tales about things that passed. Even Marisa enjoyed doing as such, this one time when she and Marisa visited Kosuzu-chan to pick up an encyclopedic book on youkai they couldn’t help but reminisce about the trouble they’d get into.

For all these stories, there was always a constant when it came to Yukari: She did seem to truly value Gensokyo and its balance. She constantly went through great pains to maintain it, even if she was hands off most of the time she’d step in enough times to keep things peaceful. The Yukari that her mentors and friends knew was not the one she knew. Even her own memories of when Yukari would come to the shrine uninvited or for business were consistent on this, at least when it came too the times she was asked to sit in as part of her training.

So why? Something was strange with her, more than usual anyways. Hana hated her for what she did, that was a truth that she couldn’t deny. Yukari had destroyed her life, humiliated her at her leisure, made her family a laughing stock in the village and yet… underneath that hatred was concern.

Hakurei mikos knew better than anyone else short of a sage that maintaining the truth of the village that youkai were their feared enemies was their top priority, yet she brought them in the dozens. Hana didn’t like youkai, even if some of them were okay and even something of a friend, but the village needed them as much as they needed the village. To intermingle this much was taboo upon taboo being broken.

Another shiver ran through Hana at the thought of what she had to do, if she wanted to find the truth there was only one person to ask. Only one person could give her the answers she desired. Only one person truly knew the method to this madness.

That person was Yukari Yakumo herself, and Hana would have to get an appointment.
