In all seriousness it was because of this movie. All of the Japanese Cinema experts mark the end of the Classic Japanese movie period when this movie came out.

In the special features the director even says this.
You can thank the director of HOUSE for all the crazy shit movies Japan produces today.

With that said the director is credited for saving the Japanese movie industry by making this film.

So it's a win lose situation.
/jp/ should watch it.

What Up /jp/
I like seeing older Japanese horror movies. To be honest I think any Japanese film made after 1968 runs the risck of being crap, but there are exceptions (excpesialy Akira Kurosawa's work). I loved the ghost stories moives called Kawadian and (not that much of ghost stories, but it followed Kawadian's format) Akira Kurosawa's Dreams.

Last year I read, in the magazine Otaku USA, an artical about an experemeantal/student made/Japanes Cult classic movie called "House". The Magazine went into much detail about the movie. Otaku USA said that it has been on the list of most wanted forgien films to be luanched in the western world. "House" is catorigized as a Horror fim, but Otaku USA made it very clear that the movie barely can be called such. There is aperantly ridicuolus and obserad scense that almost make no sense. I was excited for this film simply because it involed certin acspects of ancient Japanese focklore. The movie involved the first and most basic green screen that japan had to offer; this is how it did so well for a student film. I can't find the DVD at any of the vintige video rental shops in my town, so I'm going to watch it on youtube or somthing and then see if I should buy the special eddition.

I found this video that only has 40 views, in which someone reviews the movie. Lol I was happy to find out that someone reviewed the movie, but.........40 views and the way the kid made sure to get the backround shot of his game/movie collection set him up (don't take these words of mine and be a dick to the guy though). I would like to see /jp/ coment on the video lol.

other wise this thread is about Japanes Movies that /jp/ hates. enjoy.
