I use Near Infinity Beta and Shadow Keeper to edit .CRE files one by one, which is pain due to java and loading times. CRE determines the paperdoll's look and status (races, gender) and spells and portrait and stuff.

It's generated every time you enter new map, so if you enter Town Square, the .CRE file of Jan Jansen will be created. If you save there, edit the .CRE file into Nitori and load the game, the NPC will still be that original Jan Jansen, so it's quite a pain since you must edit the character before generating him/her in-game.

For script editing, I just use simple WeiDu translation method. It generates huge .TRA (txt-like) file you can edit directly (I imagine it can be split for wiki method) and will be used as "translation" of the entire game.

I just mass/replace names, switch pronoun from male to female and stuff which took me days. And then I hit the Lore and complicated Underdark stuff, duplicated thousand of lines since I got my extra mod installation order wrong and so on. Eventually I give up.
