Virgilius was supposed to be a rival like Erika, not a mentor. He'd obscure the truth even more by making stupid theories that warp the reality of the gameboards.

That's why episode 3 got completely rewritten. There would be no tutorial about what can be ignored and what can be trusted. Everything was going to be even more confusing and Battler just more desperate, but since the readers couldn't keep up with episode 2, that initial story plan got dumped.
