Not like that. It's more like a modernized FLCL.

I wish the girl's personality was a bit more refined. It feels like she's a cog in the same sort of evolution male characters took.

At some point, writers realized people don't want a goody-two-shoes representing them, and that they even enjoy a 'bad boy'/macho/mischief-inclined personality. But they took this to the extreme, like a case of terrible oversteer. A modern male protagonist is more moderate and balanced.

Mattoi is like those prototype 'bad boy' characters. She's infinitely more interesting than her doe-eyed predecessors though.

Her visual design is great.
