I'm a huge fan of magic in a lot of settings so for MGE I would just end up beelining to the Sabbath. Cute and petite also fits well with me so again Sabbath, though I do like many of the cat species as well. It's not the the winder monsters are bad, I just don't have an interest in them.

As far as I know, all that's really needed is for the caster to be familiar with the mana of that species.
So it probably requires that the caster has either met a monster of that species, or has at some point purchased a mana cage with that species' mana.

This means getting distant foreign ones may be more difficult, but I also wonder if say, magic-oriented publications might not distribute "mana samplers" with them. Or if they could get an equivalent by mail order.
