i use ubuntu, and before i buy a steam game i check the steam page of the game. somewhere on the right when you scroll down, it will say something about "steam deck compatibility" and it will either say verified, playable or not compatible.
if it's verified or playable on steam deck, it will work on ubuntu, and possibly other linux distros.
but you have to change some setting first, just look it up i wont explain it all.
