I don't get how I'm supposed to use images in Anki.

Let's take [image related], for example. It's an image of hagelslag, a Netherlander sweet spread. If I was to make notes for these, where would I put the image? Depending on where I put it, aren't I basically cheating?

Without the image, I would make a note like this:
>front: hagelslag
>back: Netherlander sweet spread

With the image, I could make this and the reverse:
>front: hagelslag [image]
>back: Netherlander sweet spread

But doesn't that give away too much? I am training myself to recognize the image, not the word.

I could also make additional notes:
>front: [image]
>back: hagelslag
...and its reverse:
>front: hagelslag
>back: [image]

At that point, shouldn't I just make a new note type to automatically create cards for:
word -> definition
definition -> word

word -> image
image -> word
definition -> image
image -> definition

?

That's a whole lot of more cards.

Lastly, in a front card where I have both word/definition and the image, which should be on the top? The image or the word/definition?
