Oh anons I can feel the tension rising already for tomorrow and the announcement of the L.A. show, Waifu threads should be intense and I can't wait to piss off the wotas

While it seems like they generally are accepted that doesn't mean they are enjoyed. The successful Japanese acts are guess it, integrated inside American genres and styles, aka Blonde Redhead, Deerhoof, and Smashing Pumpkins (feel free to add). Thus it is absolutely no surprise that Musume will be at an anime fest tucked safely inside a now dying American niche fanbase of weaboos. Will this appearance make serious inroads on the U.S. Absolutely not
