I wonder where the oasis water comes from. Maybe a large underground river with assorted Arachne, Dark Elves and Dwarves growing mushrooms for wine.
Would be neat to see an Egyptian city in the middle of the desert that's only an outpost or a courtyard for a splendorous Undercity, and with all the agricultural heartland in the caves surrounding the underground river.
