Vtubers suck because they're too close to being real women. A 2D girl won't cheat on you. Sure, maybe there's a VA and she turns out to be a big slut like Hirano Aya or something, but that's still divorced enough from the character that it won't ruin the enjoyment of the original for most people. Vtubers on the other hand are too tightly coupled to the girls who play them, and when these girls inevitably turn out to be sluts as 3D women are wont to do, suspension of disbelief fails.
