My father asked me why I don't date people and I told him why. He said he'll see if he can change my mind, and a few weeks later came out of nowhere and told me he got me set up on a date with his co-worker's 17 year old daughter. I told him I don't want to go, but he pretty much pressured me into doing so telling me that she's different from all the other girls I've known .

So I go on the date and it's some Japanese girl. She was very shy and we found out both our parents pretty much pressured us into it because we both only like 2D, and our parents didn't like that. We came to a mutual agreement that we'd pretend to go out so our parents could get off our backs. After about a year, when she finished highschool, she moved in with me. We have seperate rooms. I work and she stays at home and does all the housework, so it's kinda line a normal relationship (I sometimes feel she really has the better end of the deal, but when I see my room clean and figures dust free and such, I really appreciate her work.Dusting figures is some damn time consuming work.)

We've been living with each other for 3 years now. My parents don't bug me anymore, but hers still bother her about marriage and children. That's a topic we've yet to touch. Even though we've lived together for so long, we've never done anything more than holding hands while her family was over to avoid suspicion. Neither of us have even had out first kiss yet, just holding hands was hard for us to do.

Anyone else have similar stories?

Yes. All school are suppose to switch over to shorts eventually.

I've never been in a relationship, but I pretty much felt this is what it would be like. You don't have to have experienced it to see everybody around you go through the shit and catch on to patterns. Relationships will turn to shit 95% of the time. Relationships that last are usually ones where there's a kid, money, or some other external factor involved that ties them together; even then they're not really even tried together anymore because they really want to be.

You see this a lot with old couples. That's why most people have parents that fight or are miserable with each other. They were tied to each other because they had a kid, or they know that they're too old to find anybody else, so stick with each other because they'd be lonely otherwise.

Young relationships end quickly because when you're young, you know that you can find somebody else in the near future to replace your ex. When you're old and losing your charm, you no longer have that safety net, so tend to stick by someone longer, even if you don't like them and would have left them back when you were still at a ripe age.


You don't want to get in a relationship. It's one of those things you long for because you don't have it. It's like a new toy that comes out. You want it so badly, but your mother says you can't have it because your grades are dropping. You work hard to get your grades up and earn that toy. When you finally get it, its wonderful! You play with it all the time, and you can't get enough of it.

I lack motivation for anything other than my self Japanese studies. My mother is bugging me to hurry up and continue college, since I took a break after my first year due to the fact that I didn't know what the hell I wanted to do with my life yet.

I know, attempting to get a Japanese degree is a pretty shitty idea, but I don't really have anything other than Japanese that can motivate me enough to actually get a degree in...

So, any Japanese majors here who wanna give me the pros and cons, from their experience? Or perhaps anyone who's actually found a job with their Japanese degree? I would imagine there are very little jobs that I could get with such a degree, so it'd help if anyone would share some insight.

Or, I could use the fact that I got college over with but can't find a job as an excuse for leeching a little more...
