I could go either way. Some of my favorites are very scary and monstrous, like spiders, but I'd still be happy with a plain kejorou or some other vanilla species. There's nothing stopping a regular humanoid from being an absolute freak, and I bet most scary monsters are nice, normal girls deep down. That's sort of the appeal for me.
