Hmmmm, well, I would like to think it has alot to do with how much effort, money, and thought most owners put into their girls. An attempt to not let them be just a 1000 dollar doll sitting on someones shelf. Even going along with naming, personality traits, its only natural to refer to them as a girl or daughter at that point.

Ok so that's a somewhat reasonable price for M.O.M.O as there is one on Mandarake for about US$765 but that's not including freight.

Normally we tell people to avoid ebay because it's riddled with scalpers who mark prices up ridiculously but it seems you've found an actual legitimate seller.

One of my dolls came from ebay actually. Found her lost in a sea of resellers though.
