You can just obsess about something for so long. Once you read everything there is to read, play all the games, fangames, read the manga, books, fap to all the girls, etc, etc. You end up with not much else new to do with it. New things are fun and exciting, while older things which used to be exciting, while they are still the same, are just not that fun anymore since you know them so well. You've already enjoyed them and are ready to move on.

I still like Touhou a lot, but I'm not obsessed about it anymore, which is natural considering we're in a thread about the 25th aniversary of the series. I think it's good to make the distinction between liking something and being obsessed about it. I'll always like 2hu, but I'm not going to be obsessed about it anymore like I was 10 years ago.
