There was still some time before the second section of the wedding began, Yuuka was walking around feeling quite good about herself, the human seemed to have been caught between the religious leaders, she thought about helping him but decided to let him keep himself busy while the bride was finishing her preparations, besides Yuuka spotted something or someone she was hoping would show up.
Happily eating and talking at a table was the mountain god, the final target of Yuuka's little side game.
She approached her slowly savouring every second, Yasaka Kanako finally noticed her "Ah! Hey Yuuka how are you? This is quite the event you put together!"
Loud as usual wasn't she "I'm glad you're enjoying it Yasaka, for a while i was afraid you wouldn't come, after all it was thanks to you that the bride enamoured the groom"
The goddess scratched the back of her head "oh you heard about that? I am very happy that it worked out for them you know? I would have even hosted the ceremony at my place if they had asked but i can't argue that they made the right decision for choosing you as the host! You did a fantastic job!"
W-was that sarcasm? Try as she may Yuuka couldn't detect a hint of it on Kanako's voice... no! She's just trying to get to lower her guard, she's not going to fall for it
"I'm sure you would have made quite the spectacle, probably explosions would have been involve"
Kanako's smile only grew more sincere "I know right?! Fireworks! Those would have been great!"
T-... there is no way right
"Oh i almost forgot!" Yasaka continued "Where you the one that baked this cake? It's one of the most delicious ones I've ever had! It's better than most of the outside world ones i tried!"
"A-ah" for the first time in centuries Yuuka found herself at a lost for words, she cast a glance towards her companions, the lesser shrine maiden and the frog child, they merely gave her a knowing look before returning their focus to the food
"...you win this time snake" Yuuka finally muttered
"I'm sorry did you say something?"
"I'm glad you liked it"
Kanako looked confused "Oh i thought you said something else just now"
Before Yuuka could respond she heard rumbling in the distance.
Oh thank heavens an exit! "It would seem i am needed somewhere, do excuse"
The mountain god stood up "Would you like some help?"
"NO! I-i mean, don't trouble yourself please, I'm the host after all"
She sat back down "Well if you need something you know you can ask me" Kanako gave Yuuka a smile
Yuuka could only smile back awkwardly before walking away feeling slightly defeated.

If Kanako was my little sister, things would be different around here.
