I use an E8400 and a HD4850.

Screwing with the EE cycle rate and VU cycle stealing should make pcsx2 playable, even for you. (90% of the time, standard 60 fps and with minor audio fuck ups every now and again) with one of the latest 0.9.9 beta builds. Just keep the internal resolution at native.
