Thanks for your advice, anon. It really does feel like that at the moment, but I've been in a similar situation before, it's just a matter of moving on and finding better people for me.

It's not nice constantly repressing yourself and acting like you're somebody you're not. Their mindset is essentially "No one is allowed to express their self, have fun, or be happy, unless it conforms to my world view."

I'm glad that you're not in that position anymore and you can be yourself around your friends. Hopefully I can surprise them in years to come, just like you did.
