In my eyes, Morning Musume had been dead and buried since 2005.
Even back then the group survived merely by its wits since the public at large had had enough of them already as shown by the plummeting sales figures, but at least you could still say it retained some kind of consistency.
The final nail on the coffin came with the 7th generation audition and all that unnecessary pomposity that preceded the nomination of Miracle Whatsherface, at least to me. Then came Jaws, which was even worse, but the lowest point wasn't really reached until the introduction of the Chink Duo, in occasion of which they even skipped outright all quality assurance procedures represented by an official auction to literally shanghai them into the group, only because Tsunku believed they would pique the interest of the Chinese.
No wonder there's nobody left in Japan to follow them except for a restricted circle of slobbering, glowstick-waggling simians. Who wants a group that's been reduced to a travesty of its former self? Half of these boards, which incidentally is also the part they are desperately trying to push by means of photobooks and nothing else (which speaks volumes about the potential), can't even sing for shit and has the blandest personality I've ever seen to boot. In other words all they have left is a bevy of glorified gravure models.
Congratulations Tsunku!

I guess that even today we've met our daily quota of pic spam. Please refrain from exceeding the set limit until tomorrow.
