my photoshop skill is not the greatest.

i would appreciate any tips people have for using photoshop to take textures like these, increase their resolution, and then straighten their lines so they don't look like shit at close ranges.

i have to wonder why people don't make better textures... i'd gladly pay a bit more HD space for significantly better looking mods and some of them seem extremely easy to improve upon.
