The United Kingdom is the new Japan.

What does that mean? Well, Japanese culture, fashion, television programming, etc were all the rage in the 90's/00's, but in the past 10-15 years British media such as Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Top Gear, Pegg/Frost comedies, the Office, Skins, etc have become much more popular than anime, manga, and J-dorama can ever hope to be. There are more "Britaboos" than there are "Weeaboos." The Union Flag has become fashionable in places not British (such as America, Canada, Australia, etc).

There is also the factor of no language barrier. The British speak the same language as Americans and as such importation of popular media is easy and often encouraged. Lump that with the fact that a vast majority of British media is 3D PIG DISGUSTING and are more desirable to more people. Also, sexy accents.

So, nice try Japan. Nice knowing ya. Enjoy the British reign of terror as American high schoolers poorly imitate British accents, wear tracksuits, and say "innit."
