I am re-reading episode 1 now and wow.....lots of things can be interpreted in interesting ways.
Like in the beginning in the rose garden when Maria feels pity for the unhealthy rose among the normal ones, I believe it is a reference to Yasu. Also, Battler thinking to himself that Rosa is a person who always keep her promises and admiring her for it is really funny.....generally, there is whole lot of shit about the concept of promises/broken promises.

I am starting to think Umineko is more enjoyable to read when you know the whole story and characters, I don't know if R07 intended it this way....but that is how I feel things are.
